Asbestos Floor Tile Removal

Asbestos Toilet Cisterns

Toilet cisterns were manufactured using a range of different types of asbestos. These were typically the black style. The seats and lids were often produced using asbestos, also. These types of toilets can still be found in buildings across the UK.

 

 

Asbestos Insulating Board (AIB)

Asbestos Insulating Board (AIB) was a common building material used for many years. It was favoured for its insulating properties and because it was cheap to manufacture.

Constructed of lots of different fibres, it far more friable and therefore is a greater health risk if the boards are disturbed or in poor condition. AIB may be found in partitiion walls, ceilings, asbestos soffits, panels below windows and liftshafts. AIB Removal is a regulated activity and must be carried our by a licensed contractor.

Asbestos cement was a common building material used prior to 1999 and can be found internally and externally of many buildings.

Asbestos cement was used to manufacture asbestos roofing, cladding, down-pipes and gutters and cement flues.

 

 

Artex CeilingTextured Wall and Ceiling Coatings (Artex)

Textured wall and ceiling coverings were used in hundreds of thousands of homes throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s. The fashion now is to have the ceilings removed or plastered over, but it’s vital you don’t drill or scrape it.

 

 

Asbestos Insulation

Asbestos insulation was a popular form of insulation as it was cheap and easy to manufacturer. However, it is one of the more dangerous forms of asbestos as it contains many fibres which can cause serious illness and cancer such as mesothelioma. Asbestos insulation can be found in all areas of building including roofs, pipes, lofts, spray coatings and valve insulation jackets.

Asbestos Water Tanks

Many houses built prior to 1980 can contain asbestos water tanks which is why we carried out asbestos water tank removal. Whilst asbestos is harmless if ingested in water, care should be taken when removing asbestos water tanks as breaking the cement or resin that the tank is made from can release asbestos fibres into the air which can be hazardous to health.
